Aveson Schools Earn Gold and Silver Recognition for Positive School Culture

We have something to celebrate at Aveson Schools!

Aveson School of Leaders, our TK–5 campus, has earned Gold recognition in the 2026 California PBIS Recognition Program, while Aveson Global Leadership Academy, serving grades 6–12, has earned Silver recognition.

The awards recognize something our students, families and staff experience every day: creating a great school takes more than strong academics. Students learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected to the people around them.

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It is a schoolwide approach that teaches positive behavior instead of waiting for problems to happen and simply reacting to them.

Schools establish clear expectations, teach students what those expectations look like, recognize positive choices and provide additional support when students need it. The goal is a school where students understand what is expected of them and know they have adults ready to help them succeed.

You can learn more about PBIS and how it works at Aveson.

What PBIS Looks Like at Aveson

At Aveson School of Leaders, students learn three schoolwide expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Responsible. Advisors and staff teach and reinforce those expectations throughout the campus, from classrooms and hallways to the playground. Students receive Phoenix Points when they demonstrate these behaviors, and advisories and the entire school celebrate their progress together.

ASL also uses advisory, social-emotional learning and additional interventions to support students who need more help. The result is a culture built around teaching, practicing and recognizing the behaviors that help a community thrive.

At Aveson Global Leadership Academy, students focus on three expectations designed for our middle and high school community: Be Safe, Be Engaged and Be Empathetic. Advisory gives students time to explore these expectations, while celebrations and assemblies recognize positive choices and student achievement. Additional supports, including check-in/check-out systems, help students who need more individualized guidance.

These practices fit naturally into the larger Aveson approach to education, where relationships, reflection, empathy, leadership and personal growth matter alongside academic achievement.

Recognition Worth Celebrating

California PBIS recognizes schools at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels based on their implementation of PBIS. Earning Gold at ASL and Silver at AGLA reflects the daily work of our students, advisors, staff and families to build schools where people feel safe, known and connected.

We are proud of the recognition, but we are even prouder of what sits behind it: students learning how to care for themselves, care for one another and contribute to a community where everyone belongs.

That is the kind of leadership we want to grow at Aveson.
