The Aveson Independent Study Academy (AISA) offers a hybrid independent study experience for elementary students.

Aveson Independent Study Academy (AISA) is Aveson Schools’ independent study program for families who want the flexibility of learning from home while still staying connected to a supportive school community.

AISA scholars complete most of their learning at home and may also participate in optional enrichment, projects, and community-building experiences on campus and via Zoom.

AISA is a different program from the Aveson School of Leaders (ASL), and communication from our program will begin with “AISA.”

We are better together.

Our Program

AISA combines flexible independent learning with opportunities for connection, creativity, and enrichment.

AISA Includes:

  • Project-Based Learning

  • Social-Emotional Learning

  • Global learning experiences

  • Enrichment opportunities

Families support students at home with grade-level academics, including reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and physical education.

Project-Based Learning (PBL)

AISA scholars participate in meaningful projects that help them apply learning in real-world ways. Project-Based Learning supports important skills like collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking.

If your scholar participates in on-campus project days, attendance matters because projects depend on students working together as a community. AISA@Treehouse Orientation Meet…

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social-emotional learning is an important part of the Aveson experience. Students build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and communication skills through reflection and community connection. AISA@Treehouse Orientation Meet…

Global Competency

AISA supports global learning through international project experiences. Students may participate in projects that connect them with learners around the world and align with global goals like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. AISA@Treehouse Orientation Meet…

Weekly Enrichment

AISA students in TK–6 receive one hour of enrichment each week, including garden enrichment taught by Ms. Arlynn.

TK–6 Enrichment: Thursdays (60 minutes)

It's a Partnership.

Home educators (parents/guardians) are in the prime position to watch your child grow into an inquisitive and resilient young person who knows how to think outside of the box. Independent study is a partnership between AISA and home educators. We provide a variety of resources, including curriculum, elective classes, on-campus classroom opportunities, and instructional funds.

Our credentialed advisors meet regularly with home educators to partner in developing a scholar’s educational program. Advisors consult with home educators on whatever level needed, from primarily answering questions to developing monthly teaching goals, offering resources, or collaborating to provide more targeted interventions that help scholars succeed.
