Annual Fund Q & A.

+ What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is the primary fundraiser for Aveson Charter Schools. This fund supports the overall financial health of the school and fills the gap between what the State of California provides through public funding and what it actually takes to offer the kind of education Aveson gives each student.

+ Why should I donate to the Annual Fund?

By giving to the Annual Fund, you are investing in the heart and health of Aveson. Aveson’s heart is its people: advisors, instructional assistants, therapists, specialists, playground supervisors and administrators who work closest to your student every day and operations staff who ensure Aveson’s organizational well-being. Aveson’s health is its financial stability. When we are fully funded, we maintain our mandated reserves and cover our expenses every year. The healthier our budget and reserves, the more we can implement new ideas, provide more professional development, and retain/attract high-quality educators and staff.

+ How much do we need to raise?

We aim to raise as much as we can with all Aveson families donating to the annual fund. Aveson Charter Schools can use as much as it can raise from 100% participation from its families.

+ Why is 100% participation important?

When our families support us, foundations and the philanthropic community support us. The Annual Fund participation rate is often used to measure the value our community places on educating their children and it motivates other individuals, foundations and corporations to support the school. This year, we are focused on raising financial support from the philanthropic community so your participation is more important than ever before.

+ How much should I give?

Your support, in any amount, is welcomed and appreciated. We ask that you consider an amount that is meaningful to you and your family as all contributions support our efforts. Recurring gifts during previous annual fund campaigns ranged between $10 to $250 per month; one-time gifts ranged from $300 - $10,000.

+ What is the difference between giving to the Annual Fund and our PTO’s fundraising events/efforts? Doesn’t it all cover Aveson’s expenses?

Think of the Annual Fund as the foundation for giving. This is what supports all of the people and the infrastructure that educates our students and helps to keep the school running. It covers the majority of the budget gap between state funding and what Aveson actually needs to provide the kind of education we offer. When we reach our Annual Fund Goal, our fundraising events become fun opportunities to build community while also raising extra funds for our schools. The Aveson Community Organization’s fundraisers help our schools pay for special projects, specific classroom needs and other items not in the Aveson operating budget.

+ I am still unsure about my giving. Who can I speak with for more details?

Our Annual Fund Action Team is happy to answer any questions you have or help you with more information. Please email annualfund@aveson.org and a team member will contact you. You may also call, 626-797-1440 and ask to speak with an Annual Fund Action Team member.
