Due to state budget cutbacks, Aveson is shooting for 97% average daily attendance this year. We are holding ourselves and our community accountable for student attendance by tightening up our protocols regarding absences and tardies. The new policy includes a point system for attendance whereby an accumulation of 12 points per semester may adversely affect a students' ability to participate in certain events and may earn them an incomplete in graded courses.

Each unexcused absence equals 1 point. If you know your student will be absent for 3 or more consecutive days, please notify the office and your child's Advisor and request Independent Study for the days she/he will be out. Advisors need at least one week notice before the absence so that they may prepare the work for you child.

Tardies:

Each unexcused tardy equals 1/2 a point. There will no longer be a grace period in the mornings. All entry gates will be locked promptly at the start of school, beginning Monday, September 14th. If you arrive to school after 7:50 for 6-11 or 8:10 for K-5, you will need to enter through the main office. Chronic tardiness will be recorded and addressed. Five tardies equals a citation; ten tardies equals a formal parent conference.

Your cooperation with our new attendance policy is greatly appreciated. Thank you for partnering with Aveson in your child's education.
