Hour of Code

Hour of Code

Date:
Monday, December 8, 2014 (All day) to Friday, December 12, 2014 (All day)
In honor of Computer Science Education Week, Aveson students will be participating in the International Hour of Code Event December 8-15. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. This Hour of Code is just the first step on a journey to learn more about how technology works and how to create software applications. Fifteen million students world wide learned an hour of code during last year's event. Students from both ASL and AGLA will participate this year.

Take a look for yourself! Try a tutorial! And if you can, join our students as they learn code. Come volunteer next week during a Project Advisory Hour of Code. No experience necessary! We just need you, and your laptop if you'd like to bring it. Check back on this sign up - more slots will be added!

Lets get coding!

Throughout the evening, we'll clarify how Outcome Trackers are aligned to Aveson's vision of Personalized Mastery Learning. Additionally, we'll devote time to helping you understand how to read the trackers and, more importantly, know how to engage in rich dialogue with your student regarding their mastery of learning outcomes. Bring your child's chromebook if you'd like to be a hands on participant!
